Gupta, directed officials to eliminate UMLCs in a phased manner by constructing Limited Height Subways, Road under Bridges and Road over Bridges.
He addressed a day-long developmental works review meeting held with all Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs) and the Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawda, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded Divisions of the Zone at Rail Nilayam here yesterday.
The GM set targets to eliminate 170 UMLCs during 2016-17, 190 during 2017-18 and total elimination by year 2018-19.
Gupta advised Commercial department to take all steps to create awareness on the use of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), Coin operated Ticket Vending Machines (CoTVMs), Mobile app for paper less ticketing in urban sections (MMTS) etc. As the part of 'Mission Five Minutes' programme initiated by the Ministry of Railways which aims to facilitate purchase of passenger tickets at all stations of Indian Railways in five minutes.
"These achievements shoulder us with more responsibilities and increased expectations, hence the onus is on us to further improve the performance and attain more milestones in the future," the General Manager said.
He also reviewed the division-wise performance of freight loading for the current month and shared the expectations of Railway Board with the DRMs.
The Zonal target of 117 million tonnes of freight loading set by Railway Board to SCR should be achieved by exploring new avenues apart from improvement in the existing freight patterns, he said while emphasising the need to improve loading in coal, cement, fertiliser, food grains, iron ore, lime stone, quartz etc.
