Efforts have been intensified to nab the ITBP jawan who fled with an assault rifle and about 100 rounds of bullets after killing his officer and injuring another jawan at Mussoorie's IAS training academy.
The injured jawan, Akhtar Hussain, is admitted in the ICU of Max Hospital here and his condition is better though it still critical, DIG Sanjay Gunjyal said.
ITBP doctors and those at the hospital are jointly attending on him, Gunjyal said.
Chandra Shekhar, the jawan who opened fire in the institute yesterday is still at large and the search for him has been intensified in the adjoining forests where he is suspected to be hiding, he said.
Hussain had sustained injuries when he tried to prevent Chandra Shekhar from firing at the ITBP subedar Surendra Lal after an altercation. Lal was declared dead after being rushed to the hospital.
