SEC Sahariya urges youths to get registered, cast vote
Press Trust of India Amravati (Maha) Maharashtra State Election Commissioner J S Sahariya today exhorted the first-time eligible voters, who have just turned 18, to vote enthusiastically to strengthen the democracy.
He was speaking at the state-level national voters day function held at Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University here.
Principal secretary and chief election officer Nitin Gadre, Vice Chancellor Mohan Khedkar, Divisional Commissioner Dnyaneshwar Rajurkar, Collector Kiran Gitte, ZP CEO Sunil Patil, renowned social worker Sindhutai Sapkal, Addl Police Commissioner Nitin Pawar and AMC commissioner Chandrakant Gudewar were also present at the function.
Sahariya urged the youths who have completed 18 years of age to get registered as voters and exercise their franchise at the coming local self-body polls in Amravati district.
"Youth hold the key to strengthening the democracy," he said.
Sapkal too called upon the youth to vote. "Maharashtra has taught morals and culture to the country. It has strengthened the country. If the country exists, everything will exist. So it is the duty of everyone to exercise their franchise," she said.
