The jawan, identified as S Parimal, was stated to be be posted somewhere in Nagaland in CRPF camp and was arrested for carrying a 5-mm pistol and 28 rounds of ammunition, SRP, Milan Kanto Das said.
Parimal, who was arrested by GRP, Sainthia from a Burdwan-bound local train, told police he was on way to Burdwan station. He was headed to his hometown in Tamil Nadu.
Acting on a tip off the GRP men started searching the compartment and found a gun and some rounds of ammunition in a bag lying in the custody of Parimal.
