A seer died after setting himself afire in a police station here protesting against alleged inaction over his stolen items, following which three policemen, including an SHO, were suspended, police said today.
On Sunday, Ram Das Tyagi, a resident of Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, had gone to Hanumangarhi temple and there someone snatched his bag, containing around Rs 4,000, they said.
Tyagi alleged that police had not lodged an FIR in the case and attempted to immolate himself on Tuesday in the Ram Janambhoomi police station premises.
He suffered 70 per cent burns and was referred to Lucknow Trauma Centre where he died this morning, police said.
Faizabad Senior Superintendent of Police Subhash Singh Baghel said, I have suspended three policemen, including the SHO, and ordered registration of the case of the seer."
