Select pulses soften on sluggish demand

The wholesale pulses market displayed a weak trend today as select pulses led by arhar fell by up to Rs 100 per quintal owing to slackened demand.
Marketmen said muted demand from retailers against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept pressure on arhar and other pulses prices.
They said pick up in supplies following government's measures to check rising prices also weighed on prices.
In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 9,100 and Rs 12,000-13,700 per quintal respectively.
Masoor small and bold were down by Rs 50 each to Rs 5,550-5,950 and Rs 5,700-6,000 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 6,400-6,900 and Rs 6,500-7,000 per quintal respectively.

Gram, gramdal local and best quality too finished lower by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,100-5,650, Rs 5,400-5,700 and Rs 5,820-5,930 per quintal respectively.
