Members of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, living in a migrants' colony here, have accused the state government of not providing them ration for the past three months.

"We demand early release of ration quota as the migrant community has been deprived of their ration for the past three months," said Shadi Lal Pandita, President, Jagti Tenement Committee.

He said the committee demands the government to issue direction to the ration dealers for supplying the ration to the beneficiaries without any further delay enabling the migrants to overcome present "sufferings".

He said even though the government has accorded approval for release of ration in favour of the Kashmiri Migrants at previous scales but no action has been taken and they are without ration for the past three months.

Pandita said the migrant families were fully dependent on the cash assistance being given by the government and had no other source of income.

"Given the rate of inflation, we appeal the government to enhance the cash assistance to the tune of Rs 25,000 per family per month," he said.

He said the Kashmiri Pandit migrant community is much interested in their permanent rehabilitation in the Kashmir Valley in a secure and safe place.
