Putting in motion the selection of a new NCERT director, a search-cum-selection committee likely to be headed by former National Council For Teacher Education chairman Mohd Akhtar Siddiqui will meet here this week.
The constitution of the committee could be announced tomorrow, officials in HRD Ministry said.
The last date for receiving applications from the candidates for the post of Director of The National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) ended on January 9, they said.
The search-cum-selection committee is likely to have Director of Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur IK Bhat, academician Shyama Chona, Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women's University Mumbai Vasudha Kamat and Vice Chancellor of Benaras Hindu University GC Tripathi as its members.
Parvin Sinclair had resigned in October last year as the Director of the NCERT after the new government had instituted a "high-level inquiry" against her for alleged financial irregularities.
She was appointed as the NCERT director in January 2012, by the then HRD minister Kapil Sibal under the UPA-II.
