Both are apparently keen to star in the film, which is sure to be a blockbuster big-screen biopic about tragic singer Linda Ronstadt, who has been struck down by Parkinson's disease and can no longer sing a note, reported Showbizspy.
"Linda was one of the greatest singers of her generation, and her life story is mesmerizing," a source said.
"It is a dream role with huge Oscar potential. Selena and Demi are both crazy for the part, and claws are being bared," the source added.
