Shiv Sena today demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Advocate General over the issue of his affidavit in Bombay High Court.
Raising the issue in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Sena MLC Diwakar Raote alleged the AG Darius Khambatta on the government's behest had said in his affidavit that Governor's directives on equitable allocation of funds to all regions was not binding on the state.
Even though the state government had said in both the Houses that it would abide by the directions given by the Governor, the AG was firm on his stand, Raote said.
"The state government should demand his resignation," he added.
The Sena leader was speaking during a special sitting of the Upper House in a debate moved under rule 260 of Maharashtra Legislative Council.
