The President of East Singhbhum District Badminton Association, Rajeev Sengupta has resigned from his post as well as the post of Joint Secretary of Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA).
"I have decided to step down from both the posts and have already submitted my resignation to the Secretary of JBA K Prabhakar Rao," Sengupta said today.
Elected as President of the District Badminton Association in December 2015, Sengupta was the first elected o President to tender his resignation from both the posts as his two predecessors were ousted by the JBA Secretary K Prabhakar Rao for alleged anti-association activities since 2012.
When contacted in this regard, Sengupta, who was the brain behind hosting the maiden Premier Badminton League at district level, said he had no lust for the post but wanted to do something better for the game.
Sengupta admitted that he was not satisfied with the style of functioning of Rao and decided to step down from both the posts even though he would continue to strive for the promotion of the game.
The parents of the players have high hope with the badminton association and we did not have any right to play with their (players) future, Sengupta said adding that the prevailing situation would not allow him to function independently for the betterment of the game.
Apart from organizing the maiden premier league in December last, Sengupta was instrumental in inviting former International shuttler Nikhil Kanitkar to motivate the upcoming shuttlers of the state during his tenure.
