Senior auditor in PCDA office booked for fund swindling: CBI

The CBI has booked a senior auditor in office of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) for the Indian Air Force for allegedly swindling funds by creating ghost employees on pay rolls.
It is alleged that senior auditor Pankaj Kumar increased his salary several times by fudging the accounts books of the department between January 2014 and January 2017.
The PCDA (Air Force) located in Dehradun audits 45 local audit office/assistant local audit office (LAOs/ALAOs) and Joint Controller of Defence Accounts (Air Force) Nagpur.
In its complaint to the CBI, the PCDA has said that Kumar, while posted as Senior Auditor of Admin-Pay Section, handled Daily Payment Sheets and Transaction List which contains name, salary to be credited and account number of employees.
It's alleged that Kumar added names of ghost employees who were not on the pay roll in the said period.
Kumar released payments in the favour of the fictitious persons, the FIR alleged.
Such payments made in fictitious persons accounts were calculated up to Rs 1.81 crores, it said.
"He increased his own salary in Jan 2014 by Rs 15,800, Rs 25,001 in December 2016 and Rs 25001 in January 2017," it alleged.
