Senior BJD leader Anand Acharya dies

Former minister and senior BJD leader Anand Acharya passed away today at a private hospital here, family sources said.
Acharya, 77, was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly thrice from Baragarh assembly segment in western region of the state. He was elected as a BJD candidate in 1998, 2000 and 2004 and was a minister from 2000-2004.
Born on February 2, 1938 at Bargarh, Anand was the son of Late Padmashree Krutartha Acharya.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many ministers paid tribute to Acharya at the hospital.
