He was 53.
Pandey, currently posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) here, suffered a massive cardiac arrest while he was working out at a gym in Arera Colony area this morning.
As usual, Pandey went to the gym in the morning and while exercising, complained of severe pain in the chest following which he was immediately rushed to nearby government-run JP Hospital, where all efforts to revive him proved futile and he was declared dead by the doctors, a senior IPS official said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed grief over the sudden demise of Pandey and described him as an "able and hard working" police officer.
