Senior journalist Tahir Abbas passes away

Senior journalist Tahir Abbas died here this morning after prolonged illness, family sources said.
Abbas, who was in his sixties, was suffering from cancer for some time.
A bachelor, Abbas had been associated with Swatantra Bharat, Kuber Times and Rashtriya Sahara dailies in his career spanning over three decades, they said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has expressed profound grief over his death.
In an official statement, Yadav recalled the contribution of Abbas and extended condolences to his family.
The burial rites would be performed later in the day.
