Senior police inspector of Sadar police station, Arun Mali had allegedly demanded bribe for diluting charges of cheating and forgery registered against a person in a land purchase matter, ACB said in a release issued here.
The complainant, Shakeelbabu Sheikh Chhotu, approached the ACB which laid a trap.
Last night, when Naik Police Constable Manohar Ramdas Nimje was accepting the bribe on behalf of Mali near the Sadar police station, the ACB sleuths nabbed the former.
Mali, who was waiting in the police station to receive the amount, was subsequently arrested, the ACB said, adding that he has been charged under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
