Senior UP officer suspended for irregularities

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Director (Sports) Ram Prakash Singh was suspended today with immediate effect for his alleged involvement in a number of financial and administrative irregularities.
Sports Minister Narad Rai ordered Singh's suspension here, officials said.
Singh is accused of being involved in the selling of scrap, estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees, after the Gomti Nagar stadium was razed during previous Mayawati regime for inclusion of its land in Ambedkar Park, they said.
Other charges against Singh include irregularities in the food entitled to sportpersons when he was posted as the Regional Sports Officer in Lucknow, they said.

Singh also accused of misusing government property, besides facing various other allegations, they said.
