Seven districts of Haryana have been identified as High Priority Districts (HPDs) for improving the infant and maternal mortality rate in the state.
Additional Secretary cum Mission Director, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Anuradha Gupta stated this in a workshop on 'State Consultation for Intensification and Harmonisation of efforts in High Priority Districts for improving Maternal and Child Health outcomes'.
The workshop was organised by NRHM-Haryana in participation with United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Health Organisation (WHO) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) here today.
NRHM started a nation-wide campaign under which such districts have been identified where number of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) cases were high, she said.
On the basis of a survey NRHM identified the five districts- Hisar, Jind, Panipat, Palwal, Mewat while Bhiwani and Mahendergarh were chosen by the Haryana government.
She said that NRHM would run special programme in these HPDs for vaccination, nutritional needs and provide more health facilities to mothers and children to improve their health.
Apart from this, incentives would be given to specialists, nurses and other staff members in these HPDs so that there would be no shortage of workers, she added.
