Seven held for betting on India-Australia world cup match

Police today nabbed seven persons from different places here who were allegedly placing bets on the cricket World Cup semi-final match played between India and Australia.

Acting on credible information, sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (South and East Zone) conducted raids at places under Charminar, Bahadurpura and Malakpet Police Station limits and apprehended them.

They were found placing bets and collecting amounts from punters. Cash of Rs 2 lakh and items used in betting were also seized, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) N Koti Reddy said in a release.
