At least seven militants were killed by Pakistani security forces in the country's restive northwestern tribal region near Afghan border, where the military is locked in a major offensive against insurgents.
The rebels were killed by the security forces in Mohmand agency, one of the seven tribal districts of Pakistan, in a clash that erupted after the militants' movement was intercepted by the forces, the Army said.
The Army has intensified the offencive against militants in different areas after Taliban gunmen killed 150 people, mostly children, in an army-run school in Peshawar in December last year.
According to the Army, more than 1,600 rebels have been killed during the ongoing operations.
