Based on inputs provided bystate intelligence wing and local informers, police nabbed the Naxals from the peripheral area of Chandometa forests under Darbha Police Station limits, Bastar Superintendent of Police R N Dash said.
When police were cordoning off the forest area between Kandnar-Koleng and Urukpal-Bodawada villages, around 400 km from here, the ultras tried to escape but were caught after a short chase, the SP said.
The arrested rebels were identified as Maglal (21), Lakhma (20), Hidma (30), Lakhmuram (25), Rama (35) and women rebels Lakhmi (20) and Hungi (22).
Darbha 'division commander' of the Maoists, Vinod, had provided them the explosives to target the security forces during the 'martyrs' week observed by rebels from July 28 to August 3, the Dash said.
Police had gunned down two Naxals in the same region on Monday.
