Seven-year-old girl raped in Surat

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Pandesar area of Surat city, police said today.
A complaint has been registered against - Sonukumar Shah (21) - by father of the victim, Pandesar police sub-inspector A B Mori said.
The victim, whose father is a vegetable vendor, and the accused's niece were playmates and used to visit his house in Aavirbhav colony of Pandesar area, police said.
Last evening, when the victim went to play, the accused, who had lost his job 15 days back, confined her in a room and allegedly raped her.
The offence came to light when the victim's mother came there to find her, police added.

A case was registered against Shah on the basis of the complaint and after receiving medical report from civil hospital further action will be taken, police said.
