Mohammad Abdul Sayyad (55) and Mohammad Salim Sabuwala(50) were killed after their taxi was hit by a car driven by Janhavi Gadkar, a corporate lawyer, who was allegedly in inebriated condition.
Nouman Sabuwala, 16-year-old son of Salim Sabuwala, said while speaking to reporters: "Several cars passed, but no one stopped even when I begged them to help my family.
Demanding harshest punishment for Gadkar, Nouman said, "How could she do this, being an advocate? The happiness of my family has been shattered and I won't be able to see my father, who was the happiest person after seeing my results, again."
Sabuwala and his family were returning home after celebrating Nouman's success in class 10th exam on the fateful night.
Echoing his sentiment, London-based Nilofer Saiyyad, the daughter of Abdul Sayyad who was driving the taxi, said, "At least now our system should muster up courage and make an example by punishing the accused harshly."
"The life of my entire family has been ruined by a drunken lady, who knew the repercussions of her evil act. Hence her case should be treated like a murder, not as an accident," Nilofer told a newschannel.
Gadkar has been arrested and remanded in police custody.
