Several delegations from J-K meet Mufti

Several delegations from Jammu and Kashmir today called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here and sought the redressal of their problems.
An official spokesman said a delegation of the Hotel Owners Association demanded opening of Suchetgarh for border tourism and expediting work on Bagh-e-Bahu tourism project and Mubarak Mandi heritage project here.
A deputation from Kathua sought speeding up of a probe into the abduction and killing of an 8-year-old girl whose body was found in a forest.
The government has already handed over the case to Crime Branch and ordered a magisterial probe into the murder.
He said a delegation of Christians demanded necessary steps for restoring faith of the community members following incidents of violence in Rajouri's Nowshehra area.
Seema Devi (25) had died on January 15 and her body was brought to Nowshera for burial by her husband in accordance with Christian rituals. But her parents resisted leading to violence in which a church and several vehicles were torched.
A delegation from Mendhar demanded speeding up of developmental works in the area and construction of Zinda Peer-Suina Katha bridge, the spokesman said.
He said a deputation from Nubra and Zanskar in Ladakh sought strengthening of educational infrastructure and introduction of air service to boost connectivity to the region.
They also demanded strengthening of sports infrastructure in the area, the spokesman said.
A deputation of Fruit Growers Association sought tax exemption on walnut produce besides steps for encouraging local produce, he said.
Deputations from other areas also met the chief minister and sought redressal of their problems, the spokesman said.
He said Mufti heard the demands patiently and assured that they would be redressed in a time-bound manner.
