"Shanghai Disneyland is now a national tourist destination -- more than half our guests come from outside Shanghai, and millions of people across China are developing a much greater awareness and affinity for the brand," Robert Iger, the company's chairman and CEO said.
He added that visitors to Shanghai Disneyland loved classics like Mickey Mouse, as well as new Disney creations such as Zootopia.
The company's revenues for the year exceeded USD 55 billion, up 6 per cent year-on-year, with net income increasing 12 per cent to nearly 9.4 billion dollars.
The Shanghai resort yesterday announced that a new themed area, Toy Story Land, will be the first new addition to the resort.
It is expected to be completed and open to visitors in 2018.
