Peter Mukherjea, former Star CEO and husband of Indrani Mukherjea, was today questioned in the mysterious Sheena Bora murder case whose probe gathered momentum with police interrogating several others including Indrani's son Mikhail and former husband Sanjeev Khanna, who it said played a role in the abduction and killing.
Peter, who had made contradictory statements on the relationship between Indrani and Sheena, was called for the first time for the probe to Khar police station where Commissioner Rakesh Maria was also present. His brother Gautam was also briefly questioned.
Khanna was also brought to Khar police station later in the evening for questioning.
The scene of the probe into the murder three years ago shifted to Mumbai today with Khanna being taken into police remand after his arrest in Kolkata and the arrival of Mikhail Bora from Guwahati for helping in the investigations.
Khanna was taken to an undisclosed location for joint interrogation with Indrani and her driver S P Rai, who the police said in a court had abducted 25-year-old Sheena in a car and took her to a forest in Pen town of Raigad district where they strangulated her.
Brought here from Kolkata last night, Khanna was produced in Bandra court and remanded in police custody till August 31 after being charged under Sections 364 (kidnapping), 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 120-B (conspiracy) of the IPC.
Peter, who was called for the first time by police after the lid was off the case and it kept taking sensational twists and turns, was questioned for about 10 minutes.
Peter, a media honcho, had maintained earlier that he was not aware till the other day that Sheena was Indrani's daughter and about the murder and his wife had had told him that Sheena was in the US.
But his son Rahul Mukerjea was extensively grilled by police for two days over his alleged relationship with Sheena, his step sister.
In a complex web of linkages of personae involved in the case, it is suspected that Indrani was opposed to Sheena's relationship with Rahul.
