'Shiv Jayanti' celebrated in Nashik

'Shiv Jayanti' - the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was today celebrated with fervour here.
Maharashtra Water Resources minister Girish Mahajan and mayor Ranjana Bhansi garlanded life size statues of the Maratha warrior king at several places, an official release said.
Processions were taken out by youths and followers of the King at different places in the city.
King Shivaji, known as the creator of the Maratha empire, was born on this day in 1630 at Shivneri Fort in Pune, as per the Maharashtra government.
