Shops down shutters to protest opening of mega store

Many shops and business establishments here downed their shutters in protest against opening of a mega store at Bawngkawn area.
The MiMA had asked all shops in Aizawl to remain shut to protest the opening of Vishal Mega Mart at Bawngkawn area.
While most of the shops in the 'Dawrpui' shopping area were closed only a few shops were closed in other areas in the city and it was business as usual in most other localities.
The MiMA and a student organisation protested the opening of Vishal Mega Mart here alleging that big business houses belonging to non-tribal, if allowed to open shops in this tribal state would result in the economic assimilation.
