Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today called upon the people to shoulder responsibility to secure the state's future by working in tandem with the government to put development on fast track.
"Let us realise our dreams and give shape to our aspirations. Let development and progress be the key to good governance," he said in his Republic Day speech here.
Let there be a transparent and accountable administration, which works for the betterment and welfare of common people guided by 'citizen first' principle," he said.
Stating that a mature democracy has to be participatory with each citizen contributing in nation building, he urged the people to collectively rise above narrow personal greed and interests.
He said that the government has laid special focus on infrastructure, education, health and skill development and was working to harness the strength in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, horticulture and minerals.
"We require sustainable water resource management and the role of hydrological modelling is paramount. Use of our latest space technologies for natural resource management in the state needs to be explored," the Governor said.
He urged the elders in the society to fulfill their moral responsibility towards 'generation next' to guide and mentor them, to enable the youth to realise their full potential, to constructively work towards nation building and take the state to the heights of peace and prosperity.
