: A Sub-Inspector was arrested here today by Department of Vigilance and Anti Corruption sleuths for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from a person at nearby Nithravillai, police said.
They said Thanga Nadar, SI, had demanded Rs.20,000 as bribe from a man for relieving him from a case.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the man filed a complaint with DVAC, who then set a trap. The man met the SI under a bridge in the town and handed over the amount, following which he was caught red handed and the money recovered, police said.
The SI was later produced at a local court, they said.
