"Due to panel failure near Barang station at 1610 hours, some trains were detained between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar," the ECoR said in statement.
The signal panel was damaged due to lightning and repair work has started, it said.
Though about a dozen of trains were detained en route, major trains like Rajdhani Express and Puri-Patna Baidyanath Dham Express passed Barang station with help of pilot train.
The train which were detained included Cuttack-Puri Passanger, Cuttack-Palasa Passenger, Amritsar-Vishakhapatanam Hirakud Express, Bhubaneswar-Keondujhargarh passenger, Suvida Express, Bhubaneswar-Kharagpur fast passenger and Bhubaneswar -Baripada Express.
