Actress Sigourney Weaver has spoken about a possibility of making new 'Alien' movie with director Neil Blomkamp at a promotional event of her upcoming film 'Chappie'.
Weaver, 65, got popular after playing protagonist Ripley in the successful franchise, which began in 1979 with 'Alien'. 'Aliens' (1986), 'Alien 3' (1992), and 'Alien Resurrection' (1997) are the three sequels in the series.
Earlier this year, Blomkamp, who has directed 'Chappie', posted some concept arts for an unknown 'Alien' movie, prompting speculations that a new movie is coming, reported Aceshowbiz.
"I think we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. There's no one I can imagine that would do a better job," she said when asked about new 'Alien' film with him.
Weaver said she was surprised to know that Blomkamp was a fan of her 'Alien' movies.
"We started chatting about it on 'Chappie', like the first day. And he grew up watching these, I think he broke the tapes he watched them so much... But I was sort of surprised. He sent me a lot of artwork last spring and some ideas, and so you know...," she said.
In a separate interview, Blomkamp also talked about the chances of making the movie.
"Basically, what happened was, when Chappie got heavily into post-production, I could take my foot off the gas a bit. I was thinking about what I wanted to do next and I've been wanting to make an Alien film for like years and years."
"There's a high possibility, a high degree of chance that it happens that I go back and try to get 'Alien' made," the director said.
