Sikh woman's head shaved off by relatives over land dispute
Press Trust of India Jaipur A 45-year-old Sikh woman was allegedly beaten up and then her head was shaved off by her relatives over a property dispute in Shahsan village of Bharatpur district.
Meeto Bai, a widow, was allegedly locked inside her house yesterday by her brother-in-law and his wife, who assaulted her and then shaved off her head, police said.
After the incident, the woman filed a police complaint following which her brother-in-law, Iqbal and sister-in-law Lajwant Kaur were arrested, Jurhera police station SHO Madan Lal Meena said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman whose husband had died few years ago wanted to sell a piece of land but her relatives, living in the same village, were against it.
Police denied reports that she was stripped and paraded on streets.
