The Sikkim Legislative Assembly today passed eight bills, including the one proposing to hike salaries and allowances of ministers.
The House passed the Sikkim Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Members of Legislative Assembly (Salaries and Allowances) Amendment Bill, and seven other bills by a voice vote after the Speaker K N Rai put each bill for consideration and passing by the members.
The revised salaries and sumptuary allowance of the Ministers/Speaker/Deputy Speaker/MLAs will come into force with retrospective effect from April 1, 2018.
Among others, the Sikkim National Law University (Amendment) Bill, and the Sikkim Greenfield Airport, Pakyong (Settlement of Claims for Loss and Damages) Bill, were also passed.
All the bills were passed on the second and final day of the Seventh Session (Part II) of the Ninth Assembly of Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
