Silver prices rose by 0.12 per cent to Rs 40,128 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid a firming trend overseas.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July contract was trading higher by Rs 49, or 0.12 per cent to Rs 40,128 per kg in business turnover of 201 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to fresh positions created by participants, tracking a firm trend in global markets.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.30 per cent at USD 16.52 an ounce in Singapore today.
