Silver prices edged higher by 0.45 per cent to Rs 39,750 per kg in futures trading today, taking positive cues from overseas market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in far-month December contracts were higher by Rs 177, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 39,750 per kg in business turnover of 13,696 lots.
Market analysts said fresh speculative position built-up by participants in tandem with a firm global trend mainly led to the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Globally, silver rose 0.9 per cent to USD 17.89 an ounce in London, after reaching USD 17.34 yesterday, the lowest since July 2010.
