Silver prices drifted 0.22 per cent lower to Rs 38,877 per kg in futures market today, tracking a weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December fell by Rs 83, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 38,877 per kg in a business turnover of 16 lots.
The white metal for delivery in September was trading lower by Rs 75, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 37,060 per kg in 55 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in silver futures to a weak trend in the precious metals in overseas markets as a firmer dollar reduced demand for the precious metals as a safe heaven investment.
Meanwhile, silver was trading 0.44 per cent lower at USD 14.66 an ounce in Singapore today.
