Customs sources said acting on a tip off BSF personnel intercepted the empty truck and on searching the drivers cabin they found a gunny bag containing three packets of silver.
The precious metal was later handed over to customs by BSF, the sources said.
The driver told the police that he hailed from Chapai Nawabgunj district of Bangladesh and had brought a truckload of garments from there to Malda.
On the way back a person had allegedly given him the bag along with the packets with instructions to deliver it to a man, whose name was also given to him, police said.
