Sindh High Court summons PCB officials

The Sindh High Court today summoned Pakistan Cricket Board officials on May 29 to respond to a petition filed by former captain, Rashid Latif, against the election of Zaka Ashraf as chairman of the PCB.
Latif had filed a petition through his lawyer, Umair A Qazi from Hafeez Pirzada Law Associates, and also pleaded for a stay order over Ashraf's election for the next four years.
But while the court declined to issue a stay order, it issued notices to the PCB to submit a detailed reply to Latif's petition by May 29.
Latif, in his petition, had also challenged the composition of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the PCB and termed it as being illegal and void since all the provinces were not represented in the meeting wherein the Chairman was elected, hence deeming his appointment to be illegal and void ab initio.

Ashraf had, last week, claimed that elections were held under the constitution approved by the International Cricket Council.
After Faisalabad and Sialkot regional cricket associations had also filed a petition against the elections in Lahore High Court, the board indicated it would impose ad-hoc bodies in these associations.
Other associations, including Karachi and Lahore, had also raised objections to the procedure adopted to elect the Chairman of the board or endorse Ashraf as Chairman for the next four years.
