Gnani Arts, a Singapore-based Indian art gallery, will showcase contemporary works of artists at the Indian Art Festival in Mumbai next week.
Mumbai will be Gnani Art Gallery's next stop after showcasing 25 pieces of contemporary artists at Singapore's Affordable Art Fair 2014 (AAF 2014) which is being held this weekend.
"The Indian contemporary art is becoming more and more popular among Singaporeans including the expatriate community," said Bareilly-born Mona Singhania, one of the artists who would be displaying her work at the Nehru Centre.
"Gnani Arts provides a platform through its gallery to Indian artists and others in regional shows," added P Gnana, managing director of the 11-year old gallery in Singapore.
"We participate in six art festivals a year which are held in Singapore, India, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai," said the Chennai-born Gnana, who has studied various aspects of art in Singapore.
This year, Gnani Arts joined 108 international galleries showing works of some 950 international artists.
There are a lot of good art pieces on display including those by Indian artists, some of whom are resident in Singapore and some are from other countries, said Piyush Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of the DBS banking group, one of the main sponsors of AAF 2014.
"I think for an Indian artist who wants to get out to good audience Singapore is a good place to meet," Gupta told PTI.
The Indian Art Festival is scheduled from November 27 to 30 at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai.
