Singapore says deports 4 Indonesians for links to IS

The local Straits Times newspaper reported that one of the four was a 15-year-old boy who was detained Sunday while attempting to enter Singapore from Johor in Malaysia.

Singapore said today that it had deported four Indonesians it says were on their way to Syria to join the Islamic State group.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the four "were deported to Indonesia after investigations revealed that they had plans to make their way to Syria to fight for ISIS." ISIS is another acronym for the Islamic State group.

"Singapore authorities informed their Indonesian counterparts before the deportation," the ministry said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Last month, authorities said they had deported 26 Bangladeshi construction workers for forming a religious study group that was spreading the ideology of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group.
