It said in a release that 22,000 toilets had to be built after the formation of Sircilla district in the recent re-organisation of districts. The task was completed last week to make it the first open-defecation free district in the State.
All eligible citizens were provided with toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission and some local residents like truck owners and other supplied materials free of cost to build toilets, it said.
Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao, who represents Sircilla constituency in the Assembly, congratulated the district administration for the achievement.
