The pick-up van hit some pedestrians, cyclists and even a motorcyclists, the sources said.
Assistant Inspector of Schools Biplab Ghosh who was seriously injured in the accident has been referred to the Tata Hospital in Jamshedpur while the five others have been admitted to Purulia Sadar Hospital, they said.
The driver of the pick-up van surrendered to the police and claimed that he hit the pedestrians as the brake of his vehicle failed, the sources added.
