Six killed, five hurt as live wire falls on Chhath traders

Six persons were today electrocuted and five others sustained injuries when a live wire fell on people trading fruits and vegetables on the occasion of Chhath festival in Madhubani district.
The incident occurred at Kunwar Singh Chowk under Jai Nagar police station when a 11,000-volt overhead wire snapped and fell on a road on which the trading was being carried out, Superintendent of Police Md. Akhtar Hussain said.
While six persons died on the spot due to electrocution, five others sustained burn injuries, he said.
The injured were admitted to hospital and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Efforts were on to identify the victims, Hussain said.
