The H1N1 tests were conducted at Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS) here. All the patients are from Patna.
"Three persons tested positive for swine flu today, while three had tested positive yesterday. The presence of the virus in five of them is 'highly positive', which means strong infection. One patient, a doctor working at our institute, has got mild infection," RMRIMS Director Dr Pradeep Das told PTI.
However, the three patients tested positive yesterday are recovering and out of danger now, Patna Civil Surgeon Dr Krishna Kumar Mishra said.
Bihar State Health Society Administrative Officer Rajnish Kumar Singh said they were on "full alert".
"Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself held video conferencing with district magistrates and reviewed preparations to check swine flu.
"The CM has ordered full fledged awareness campaign with posters, banners and loudspeakers. Health counters are to be arranged at transit points to examine persons having preliminary symptoms of the disease," he said.
Experts instructed doctors in districts and in-charge of all 533 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state through video conferencing on how to deal with the disease, Singh said.
Health Department Principal Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra has directed all district hospitals to immediately establish five-bed isolation wards.
Isolation wards of 40-beds at Infectious Diseases Hospital in Patna, 30 beds at Patna Medical College Hospital and Nalanda Medical College Hospital, 10 beds each at other government medical college and hospitals are being set-up.
