The sixth batch of 1475 pilgrims left for Amarnath cave shrine from Jammu base camp here amid tight security today, police said.
The pilgrims including 1,074 men, 231 women, 21 children and 149 sadhus and sadhvis left in a cavalcade of 47 vehicles, including 35 buses and 12 light motor vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at 4 AM today.
The convoy for the yatra has already crossed Chenani in Udhampur district on Jammu-Srinagar National highway towards base camp of Baltal in Kashmir valley.
With today's batch, as many as 7,744 pilgrims have left Jammu for their onward journey to the cave shrine of Amarnath.
Over 51,000 yatris have had the darshan of Ice lingam at the Holy Cave at Amarnath till this morning.
Despite heavy snowfall during the past winters and consequent implications, the number of yatris paying obeisance at the shrine has been steadily increasing with the commencement of the yatra on June 28 from Baltal route.
