Slain Haryana gangster's 'girlfriend', her mother detained

A woman, said to be the girlfriend of Haryana gangster Sandeep Gadoli, and her mother were detained today by city police, which is probing his death in an alleged fake encounter here, an officer said.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Mumbai Police detained Divya Pahuja and her mother Sonia in Gurgaon and is questioning them as suspects in the case, he said.
Police were ascertaining if the mother-daughter duo played any role in the staged killing of Gadoli inside a hotel near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here on February 7, the officer said.
Divya was allegedly the girlfriend of the deceased gangster and accompanying him when the encounter, carried out by a Haryana Police team, took place, police said.

Three accused in the case -- all policemen from Haryana-- have been arrested by the SIT. They are constables Vikram Singh, Jitendra Yadav and sub-Inspector Pradhyuman Yadav, who led the encounter team.
Vikram and Jitendra were nabbed from Mumbai, while Pradhyuman was apprehended from Gurgaon.
The team led by Pradhyuman claimed Gadoli, a history- sheeter, was shot in retaliation after he fired at them to avoid arrest. His relatives, however, alleged that it was a fake encounter and filed a police complaint.
