Commuters in and around south and east Delhi were stuck in gridlocks for hours as waterlogging was reported at Saket, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash, Khanpur, Sainik Farms, South Extension, Ashram, Moti Bagh, Shahdara and Vikas Marg, a traffic official said.
The major stretches in south Delhi which were severely clogged included the Mehrauli-Badarpur road, BRT corridor and the Outer Ring Road stretch covering Panchsheel, IIT-Delhi, Munirka and Vasant Vihar.
Traffic was also thrown out of gear at the Gurgaon Expressway, he said.
A long tailback was also reported in west and north Delhi areas including Mayapuri, Naraina, Punjabi Bagh, Boulevard Road, Wazirabad, Jahangirpuri and Adarsh Nagar, the official said.
The situation got worse with several cases of bus breakdown reported after the evening showers in already congested areas, including Kalkaji and Wazirabad, he added.
