Speaking to reporters here, Pitroda said these social innovators would be the key in future to create jobs as he government is not likely to create much of jobs.
"We need lot of these (social innovators) to create new jobs. Don't expect big number of jobs to come out of the government nor we should expect jobs to come out of big companies," he said.
Meanwhile, he also announced that Action for India (AFI), a non-profit organisation under him will organise two forums in NCR region on January 11-12 to bring together about 100 social innovators to connect with investors, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professionals, technology titans, corporate executives, and government officials.
AFI connects social innovators with investors, mentors, technology resources, government contacts and local partners to overcome barriers to scale and achieve greater impact at the bottom of the pyramid.
"I wish this model can be replicated in other cities especially II and III tier cities. You need local champions to do this, you can't have government to do this. We are now looking for people in various cities.
"...To host the forum for the third year bringing 100 of India's social innovators and key influences onto one platform. We will launch several new initiatives in the coming year...Expansion of the national network of regional social innovations hubs across the country," said AFI Founder, Sanjay Kadaveru.
