Smuggled beetel nuts seized

Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) sleuths today seized 58 quintals of smuggled beetel nuts worth over Rs 1.5 crore from along India-Nepal border under Sampurnanagar police station area here.
The beetel nuts which were kept concealed in a sugarcane field near Bamnagar were being carried to Kanpur, when on Pallia-Bamnagar road, the SSB men recovered the smuggled goods, Lokesh Kumar, officiating commandant, SSB, 40th batallion, told PTI .
"Two persons have been arrested in this connection while a criminal case has been lodged with the Sampurnanagar police," he said, adding that beetel nuts are among the goods whose trade is restricted along the border.
